Device for assisting the taxing process of an airplane

The device has a computer to form primitives using information from a recognition system. The computer compares the primitives with simple geometrical forms representing steps of an airport track extracted from a database, to validate/invalidate a track followed by an aircraft. A visual display system (8) has a visual display unit i.e. head-up display, to display an enhanced vision system type conformal image (20) of the airport track located before the aircraft, and a sequence of graphical symbols (30) that represent known steps of the airport track, current step and future steps.
