An apparatus for treating fluid conduits to prevent contamination comprises a conduit 2 defining a fluid channel 4 and a coil 6 extending along at least part of the length of the conduit 2 and around the fluid channel 4, said coil having a length or aggregate length L. A signal generator 10 is connected to the coil 6 and is configured to supply a varying electrical signal to the coil 6 whereby the coil 6 generates a varying magnetic field within the fluid channel 4. The length or aggregate length L of the coil 6 is at least 1.8 metres. The length of the coil is preferably in the range of 1.5-5.0 metres which may form, in the range of, 3%-5% of the total length of the conduit. The coil 6 preferably forms part of a beer line (fig 2) and may extend around a section of beer line located adjacent a beer supply container (14, 16, fig 2) between the container (14, 16, fig 2) and a delivery pump 20, fob detector 22 or cooler 28. |
