More specifically, the present invention provides a polypeptide obtained by cleaving DANCE and a polynucleotide that encodes the same; a method of cleaving DANCE; an antibody against a polypeptide obtained by cleaving DANCE; a method of measuring the amount of DANCE cleaved and a kit therefor; a DANCE mutant and a polynucleotide that encodes the same; various DANCE complexes and methods of preparing the same; a screening method for a substance capable of regulating the activity of DANCE or a DANCE-specific protease, and the substance obtained thereby; a regulator of the formation of elastic fibers; and a kit comprising at least DANCE and a polynucleotide that encodes the same, and the like.
