A process for producing rectangular aggregated areas in a digital image in which a user is directed to put an annotation relating to the image. The process includes implementing a divergence level calculation procedure, for categorizing which pixels of the image are either above or below a divergence threshold in comparison to a nearby diagonally located pixel (fig. 2). Then, imposing a square or rectangular grid on the image, of which each grid area is larger than a pixel. Further, implementing a grid area uniformity calculation procedure to determine whether the areas are homogenous, by employing a homogeneity threshold (fig. 3). Further, implementing a rectangular area formation procedure, in which homogeneous grid areas are grouped in rectangles to form aggregated areas. |
