The system (26) has a damping element (28) guided on a support (30) by a connection element such that the damping element is outwardly movable during rotation of a rotor and made to contact with a lower platform area (22) of a rotor blade. A circumferential contact surface (54) is formed by an elevation (52) on the lower platform area as a limit stop for a movement of the damping element. The connection element is guided into a radially extending longitudinal groove (18) of the support. The damping element is in contact with the platform area. The connection element is released in the groove. An independent claim is also included for a rotor comprising a rotor blade with a damping system.
