<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a navigation device allowing application outdoors where a change of a luminance distribution is large without using a costly and complicated sensor, and allowing an easy route change without using a magnetic tape, an optical tape or the like, and to provide a control method therefor. <P>SOLUTION: This navigation device 10 is loaded in a mobile autonomous mobile body 1. The navigation device 10 has: a camera 12 photographing an image in a moving direction of the autonomous mobile body at prescribed time intervals; and a controller 18 having a storage device and an arithmetic device, and controlling the autonomous mobile body based on the image of the camera. The controller stores prescribed sensor information when the autonomous mobile body moves along a prescribed travel route during taught traveling, compares sensor information stored in time of an autonomous traveling and the sensor information at the present time, and controls the autonomous mobile body such that the autonomous mobile body moves along the travel route.
