The press (1) has a crimping tool (13) moved relative to a crimping tool (11). A drive e.g. electric rotation motor or hydraulic linear motor, applies crimping force between the crimping tools during crimp production process. Prestressing units e.g. flexible elements (15, 18), apply an initial load between the crimping tools, which act in same direction as the force and are active before the crimp production process. A machine frame (2) is moved against the two crimping tools. The prestressing units apply the initial load between the frame and the tools. |
