PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a navigation system allowing a user to judge quickly a road situation as to a road, by informing the user of road information in the road in a mode understood intuitively, and capable of providing a route guide of high quality wide in choices for guide routes, a method therefor and a program therefor. SOLUTION: A traffic direction indication mark determination part 45 determines directions of advancing direction indication marks e1-e3, based on advancing direction information in a byroad/back road acquired by an advancing direction information acquiring part 50 for the byroad/back road, and determines shapes of the advancing direction indication marks e1-e3, based on road width information of the road acquired by a road width information acquiring part 44. A data storage part 47 for the advancing direction indication marks stores coordinate data and pattern image data as to the advancing direction indication marks e1-e3, and an advancing direction indication mark display part 48 displays the advancing direction indication marks e1-e3.
