PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic camera system capable of preventing the flow-out of image data contrary to the intention of a user, when an electronic camera and a cradle are connected. SOLUTION: An electronic camera system has an electronic camera and a cradle. The electronic camera has a first recording section and a first connection terminal. The first recording section records image data, and the first connection terminal is used to transmit data and receive data to and from the outside of the camera. The cradle has a second connection terminal and a second recording section. The second connection terminal is configured to be engaged with the first connection section, and data are transmitted and received to and from the electronic camera via the second connection terminal. Image data transferred from the electronic camera are recordable in the second recording section. At least either the electronic camera or the cradle further has a transfer determination section for determining, based on predetermined authentication information, whether the transfer of the image data is permitted.
