Classes 75(ii) and 75(iv) A lighting fixture particularly for use in buses, railway coaches, and other passenger vehicles comprises a parabolic or other reflector 16, Fig. 2, having its 'optical axis inclined to the axis of a circular opening 34 in a mounting plate 13 to which a circular peripheral flange 36 on the reflector 16 may be secured in a selected angular position in relation to the axis of the opening 34 as by rivets passing through spaced holes in the flange 36 and through a desired selection of holes 35, Fig, 4, in the plate 13. The holes 35 may be numbered to facilitate selection during assembly of the fitting. The reflector 16 carries an electric lamp bulb 18 the filament of which is disposed slightly forward of the focus of the reflector. The reflected beam passes through a transparent panel 19 having flat side walls and a substantially clear transparent planoconvex lens portion 22 of oval periphery surrounded by a diffused frosted or enamelled part 23 which may be fluted. The inner flat surface 24 of the lens portion 22 is cross hatched to avoid the formation of an image of the bulb. The panel 19 has a flange 28 by means of which it is carried by a plate 12 hinged at one end 14 to the plate 13 and fastened thereto at the opposite end by a screw 31 and nut 32, a felt sealing strip 30 being interposed between the flange 28 and the plate 13. |
