A process for guiding a steel band in a continuously operating press (1) for producing eg fibre board, comprises using the flexible, endless steel bands (5,6) to apply pressure to a material. The material (4) to be pressed is moved to a pre-pressing unit (26) using a continuously movable forming band (24), and then into the inlet region of the continuously working press between the steel bands, via a wedge inlet. The steel bands are moved over drive drums (7,8) and inlet drums (9,10), about an upper and a lower frame section. The press spacing is adjustable and the press plates are heated. Movement of the band away from the longitudinal axis is picked up by sensors, and a regulating unit controls the axis. The band is returned to the axis by briefly stopping one of the sides of the pre-press with the press rollers. |
