681,539. Davits. SCHATS DAVITS, Ltd., SLUITERS, F., and SMIRNOFF, V. June 4, 1951. No. 13167/51. Class 115. In a davit having an arm 8 guided, in two spaced points 11, 12, along individual paths, the path 11-11<SP>1</SP> of the upper point slopes downward towards the water and the ship's side 3 and is concave when viewed from above so that the centre of gravity of the movable system, comprising the davit arm 8 and the boat 5, follows a substantially straight path G-G<SP>1</SP> which slopes downwardly in outboard direction at a level above the upper point. The lower point 12 is movable in an approximately vertical path 12-12<SP>1</SP> located in, or close to, the vertical plane through the keel of the stowed boat. As shown in Fig. 1 the point 12 moves in a runway 14. In another embodiment it is hinged to a link pivoted to one of the stanchions, e.g. 16, supporting the runway 13. The davit arm carries a brat chock 9 and keel support 10. |
