The process comprises disposing a metal wire (8) at a seam (10) of two sheet parts (12, 14) to be assembled, and melting the metal wire using an infrared radiation heat source (18) for forming a solder fillet between the parts to be assembled. The heat source is disposed at a distance of 10-30 mm from the seam, and has a shape that matches the seam and a length that is equal to the seam. The metal wire has a melting temperature of 200-450[deg] C. A flux is passed at the seam to deoxidize the seam for obtaining a solder fillet with good quality.
