<p>In order to achieve a data recording and playback configuration with which it is easy to acquire attribute information concerning a 3D image configuration frame that is recorded on a recording medium, attribute information of 3D images is recorded as attributes in management data units of management information files of a hierarchical management information file. If the encoding method is a frame sequential method, frame identification data, which indicates whether each frame is a left-eye image (L image) or a right-eye image (R image), is recorded, and if the encoding method is an inter-view reference encoding method, which references either the L image or R image frame during decoding, base image identification data, which indicates whether the L or R image is the base image, is recorded. As a result of this configuration, the playback device is capable of determining frame attributes without analyzing the data to be played back.</p> |
