Aromatic branched polycarbonate prepared by transesterifying bisphenols with diaryl carbonates in melt transesterification process using branching agents, is new. The ratio of internal branching agent and sum of xanthen-9-one derivative (I) in melt polycarbonate is 8-200. The content of (I) is 5-450 mg/kg. An independent claim is also included for a composition comprising at least one above mentioned polycarbonate and at least one organophosphorus compound comprising phosphines, phosphites, diphosphites or phosphates.
