An alarm system for detecting any overflow or any leakage of liquid or semi-Iiquid, such as slurry, from a storage tank comprising of a tank holding a Iiquid or semi-liquid, such as slurry, a sensor unit, a pressure gauge and a programmable communication control unit. The pressure gauge is suspended in the Iiquid or semi-liquid, and the programmable communication control unit is preprogrammed with the dimensions of the storage tank and is able to receive the pressure readings from the pressure gauge in order for the programmable communication control unit to communicate an alarm if the pressure readings from the pressure gauge indicate a change in volume of liquid or semi-Iiquid which has not been preprogrammed into the programmable communication control unit.
