PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved alignment pin assembly to expand manufacturing tolerances and accommodate for misalignment in a surgical stapler.SOLUTION: The surgical stapler includes a handle assembly, an elongated body extending from the handle assembly, a cartridge assembly mounted on the distal end of the elongated body and including an alignment pin 38 configured for advancement from the cartridge assembly, and an anvil assembly 22 positioned distal of the cartridge assembly. The anvil assembly 22 includes an opening 53 configured to receive the alignment pin 38, the opening 53 including an alignment pin contact area 55 to provide a lead-in configuration, thereby directing the alignment pin 38 into the opening. |
