PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic flash apparatus, capable of reducing the period in which light cannot be emitted in a light emitting element.SOLUTION: The electronic flash apparatus 1 includes the light emitting element 2, a driver 3 for driving the light emitting element 2, an energy storage element 4 capable of storing electricity, a battery power supply 5 capable of supplying electric power to the energy storage element 4, and a boost chopper circuit unit 8 which has an inductor 6 and boosts the voltage by switching a switching element 7. The driver 3 can switch among an electricity storage state in which electric power from the battery power supply 5 is stored in the energy storage element 4, a first light emission state in which the electric power stored by the energy storage element 4 is supplied to the light emitting element 2, and a second light emission state in which the electric power from the battery power supply 5 is boosted by the boost chopper circuit 8 and supplied to the light emitting element 2. |
