<p>A method and an apparatus for multicast control are provided by the embodiments of the present invention. The method includes: when a Service Set Identifier (SSID) or a Basic Service Set Identifier (BSSID) for a designated Virtual Access Point(VAP), which will be issued to an Access Point(AP), enables a multicast control function, an Access Control(AC) sends a Control And Provisioning of Wireless Access Point(CAPWAP) multicast control message containing enabling information for the multicast control to the AP, enables the AP to create a multicast control table according to the CAPWAP multicast control message containing enabling information for the multicast control and perform multicast control according to the multicast control table. With the method and apparatus of the embodiments of the present invention, through that the AC is responsible for issuing a multicast control policy to the AP, and the AP can complete multicast copy and Wireless Local Area Network(WLAN) station authority control, therefore multicast control and multicast copy pressure of the AC can be effectively reduced, utilization ratio of the network bandwidth can be improved, and difficulties faced by operators during disposing multicast service requirements in WLAN networks can be fully solved.</p> |
