Disclosed is an image display device capable of allowing a user to visually recognize an image with little disorientation even when looking at an image without using a visual assistance device. Each pixel is associated with one of a plurality of pixel groups. Each of the plurality of pixel groups includes first pixels (501, 502) and second pixels (523, 524). A three-dimensional image display device comprises a polarizing unit that polarizes light that the first pixels emit into light having a first polarization characteristic and light that the second pixels emit into light having a second polarization characteristic; an image processing unit that sets the brightness of at least one of the brightness of a left-eye image and the brightness of a right-eye image, such that the brightness of one predetermined image, from among the left-eye image and the right-eye image, is greater than the brightness of the other image; and a display control unit that displays the one image onscreen in the first pixels at a set brightness, and displays the other image onscreen in the second pixels at a set brightness.
