PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for treating exhaust gas to remove fine particles of a substance causing photochemical smog, discharged from a print shop, a paint shop, a factory of treating a metal surface, or the like, particularly a VOC (a volatile organic compound), an organic compound of a high boiling point such as paint and ink, dust and the like, using an adsorbent supported by filter cloth, which apparatus has excellent handleability, consumes a small amount of the adsorbent, and easily regenerates the adsorbent.SOLUTION: A harmful component present in the exhaust gas is removed by causing the exhaust gas to contact a layer 22 of an adsorbent such as activated carbon sucked out of an adsorbent tank 23 and spread over filter cloth 21 of a large specific surface area. Prior to stopping an exhaust gas blower, the adsorbent is made to agglomerate by spraying water supplied from a water tank 24 onto the adsorbent layer 22 and is collected into a recovery tank 26 from the surface of the filter cloth. Prior to resuming the operation, a prescribed amount of the adsorbent is spread over the surface of the filter cloth 21 using the negative pressure of the blower. |
