PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dye for a dye-sensitized solar cell excellent in an optical absorbing amount and a dye-sensitized solar cell using the same.SOLUTION: The dye for a dye-sensitized solar cell contains a carbonyl thiophene compound as expressed in a formula (1) and a phosphoryl thiophene compound as expressed in a formula (5). In the formula, R-Rand R-Rexpress a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group of a carbon number 1-20 each independently, and Z and Y are bivalent organic groups containing a thiophene or benzene ring.
