PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a segment-driven electrophoretic display device, obtaining high-contrast display in a short time.SOLUTION: According to one embodiment, the electrophoretic display device includes: a display panel having an electrophoretic display material and two electrodes for holding the electrophoretic display material between them, and including a pixel for displaying; and a control circuit for applying a write voltage pulse having time shorter than the response time of the electrophoretic display material between the two electrodes once after an alternating voltage pulse is applied between the two electrodes.
