MANUFACTURING METHOD FOR GLASS SUBSTRATES FOR MAGNETIC DISKS

One goal of the disclosed manufacturing method for glass substrates for magnetic disks is to effectively remove metal contaminants attached to a glass substrate surface without increasing the coarseness of the glass substrate surface in the glass substrate for magnetic disks. In the manufacturing method for glass substrates for magnetic disks, a cleaning step is provided involving treatment in which the glass substrate is brought into contact with a cleaning solution which has pH between 2-4 and contains oxalic acid and divalent iron ions. The divalent iron ions add ammonium iron (II) sulphate, iron (II) sulfate and iron (II)oxalate to the oxalic acid.
