PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a density correction value by printing a test pattern capable of obtaining a correct density correction value without changing data to a medium different in size.SOLUTION: A ruled line to be a downside ruled line is detected among a first ruled line group and a second ruled line group from image data obtained by reading the test pattern and ruled line groups formed on the medium. The image data is corrected to match an actual number of pixels between the detected downside ruled line and an upside ruled line in the image data with the number of dot trains theoretically formed in the test pattern. A correction value corresponding to each dot train is calculated on the basis of a read density corresponding to each dot train of the corrected image data.
