PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a melting furnace which can smoothly discharge molten objects to be treated in it from its discharge port.SOLUTION: A glass melting furnace 1 includes its body 2, into which high-level radioactive liquid waste containing elements of platinum metals is poured, main electrodes 5 for charging and melting the high-level radioactive liquid waste poured into the body 2 and materials for glass and a flow-down nozzle 8, placed at the bottom of the body 2 to discharge the molten glass melted by the main electrodes 5 into a canister C. A first storage tank 17 for storing the molten glass is set up, prior toguiding the molten glass discharged from the flow-down nozzle 8 to the canister C. The first storage tank 17 has a capacity larger than that of the canister C. |
