PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a conductive polymer having a high-conductivity and a manufacturing method thereof, a conductive polymer dispersion, and a low-ESR solid electrolyte capacitor and a manufacturing method thereof.SOLUTION: The conductive polymer is manufactured by a method comprising the steps of: dissolving a sulfonic acid group-containing resin having a weight-average molecular weight of ≥2,000 and ≤50,000 and a compound represented by formula (1): CH(OH)(wherein n denotes an integer of 3 to 6) in a solvent; mixing at least one monomer selected from among pyrrole, thiophene and their derivatives in the obtained solution; chemically oxidatively polymerizing the monomer by using a persulfate salt to obtain a conductive polymer; and cleaning the conductive polymer to remove the compound represented by formula (1) contained in the conductive polymer.
