PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase detection sensitivity to a specific substance in detection utilizing adsorption.SOLUTION: By a method of detecting a substance, a substance to be detected is excited by irradiating an atmosphere of a detection space with light having a first wavelength that can excite the substance to be detected from a ground state to an excitation state, based on an energy level structure of the substance to be detected, the substance to be detected is ionized by irradiating the atmosphere of a space to be detected with light having a second wavelength that can perform excitation from the excitation state to an energy state of not less than a vacuum level, an ion is subjected to electric field acceleration to make a detector adsorb the ion, and the amount of adsorption is detected. |
