PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce power consumed in standby and operation of a seismometer using an accelerometer.SOLUTION: The seismometer includes: a first switch 6 connected to turn on/off power supply from a power supply 5 to an acceleration sensor 1, a storage device 3, an output device 4 and a control unit 2; a second switch 7 connected in parallel with the first switch 6; and a switch drive 8 operated to turn on the first switch 6 by an earthquake. The second switch 7 is turned on upon receiving power supply from the power supply 5 by turn-on of the first switch 6, acceleration data are stored in the storage 3 until a state where the absolute value of the acceleration data is not more than a prescribed value continues for prescribed time, the acceleration data stored in the storage device 3 are outputted to the outside by an output device 4, and then the second switch 7 is turned off. |
