PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a receiving device and a receiving method, which achieves repetitive decoding for a concatenated code including a convolutional code while restraining a circuit size from increasing.SOLUTION: The device includes: a decoder for applying a decoding process according to a convolutional code to a soft-decision input value generated in response to a received signal sequence; a correction processing part for performing error correction processing for an obtained decoding result sequence and generating a decoded data sequence responding to the received signal sequence; a repetitive control part for causing the decoder and correction processing part to repeatedly execute a first error correction decoding process for the received signal sequence; and a penalty calculating part for, in accordance with whether the decoding result matches decoded data obtained by the second error correction decoding process made before the first error correction decoding process, calculating penalties corresponding to branches transiting in the respective decoding results; and a penalty reflection part for calculating a branch metric with reflecting the calculated penalties to reduce a likelihood of a branch to which the penalty is to be added, and inputting the resultant branch metric to the decoder. |
