PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotary piston engine 1 including a first ignition plug 21 provided on the leading side of in the rotating direction of a rotor 2 beyond a minor axis Z of a rotor housing 3, and a second ignition plug 22 provided on the trailing side in the rotating direction of the rotor 2 beyond the minor axis Z, for improving the propagation nature of flames (combustion characteristics on the leading side) with the ignition of the first ignition plug 21.SOLUTION: On a recess 2b in the outer peripheral face (a flank surface 2a) of the rotor 2, a turbulent flow generating member 51 is provided which is located on the leading side in the rotating direction of the rotor 2 beyond the minor axis Z of the recess 2b during the compression top for converting at least part of a squish flow flowing in the recess 2b from the trailing side to the leading side into a turbulent flow in an expansion stroke after the compression top. The turbulent flow generating member 51 is provided in the recess 2b opposed to the first ignition plug 21, at a position of promoting the propagation of flames with the ignition, at the time of the ignition of the first ignition plug 21. |
