Disclosed is an electrically-heated catalytic converter (1A) that treats gas that flows through a case (3) by a catalyst supported on a catalyst support (2), and that is equipped with: a catalyst support that that is heated by a current passing therethrough; a holding mat (4) made from an insulating material and disposed so as to cover the outer periphery of the catalyst support (2); and a case (3) that holds the catalyst support (2) via the holding mat, and which houses the catalyst support (2) therewithin. The holding mat (4) has water absorbency properties, and an insulating layer (5) formed by an insulating material is disposed between the case (3) and the holding mat (4).
