PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new cytokine which has an interferon-like high antiviral activity and is stable in vivo.SOLUTION: Homogeneous preparations of IL-28A, IL-28B, and IL-29 are produced by mutating one or more of cysteine residues in polynucleotide sequences encoding mature proteins. The cysteine mutant proteins can be shown to either bind to their cognate receptor or exhibit biological activity, such as an antiviral activity. |
