PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable accurate detection of liquid junction that occurs inside of a fuel cell with a simple and compact configuration.SOLUTION: A liquid junction detection device 90 is incorporated in a fuel cell stack 10. In an insulating plate 60b configuring the fuel cell stack 10, a fuel gas outlet communication hole 76b and an oxidant gas outlet communication hole 72b are formed. The liquid junction detection device 90 includes a first detection electrode 92a arranged so as to come into contact with generated water within the fuel gas outlet communication hole 76b and a second detection electrode 92b arranged so as to come into contact with generated water within the oxidant agent gas outlet communication hole 72b. An anode side voltage detector 102 that detects a voltage between the first detection electrode 92a and a terminal plate 59b, and a cathode side voltage detector 104 that detects a voltage between the second detection electrode 92b and the terminal plate 59b are connected to a controller 22.
