PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To start an engine 11 during traveling without using any starter, and to stably and quickly start the engine 11, in a hybrid vehicle for making a vehicle travel by driving a driving wheel 14 by driving at least one of the engine 11 and an electric motor 17.SOLUTION: When the start conditions of the engine 11 which has stopped are established during the traveling of a vehicle, a controller 2 of a vehicle drive device CR supplies fuel to a cylinder in at least the expansion step of the engine 11, and executes combustion start to start the engine 11 by performing ignition and combustion. In starting the combustion of the engine 11, a lockup clutch 15 is operated, and then the ignition and combustion of the engine 11 is started in accordance with a timing when torque is applied from the driving wheel 14 side to the engine 11 by the fastening of an intermittence unit 121 for achieving the intermittence of torque between the engine 11 and the driving wheel 14. |
