683,938. Fuzes. AKTIEBOLAGET BOFORS. June 11, 1951 [June 14, 1950], No. 13809/51. Class 9(i) A projectile, bomb, or mine has a battery and means whereby at a given pressure of a medium, such as gas developed in the projectile, the battery is connected to an electric circuit for operating the ignition device of a bursting charge. The drawing shows a cylindrical body whose ends 2, 3, are intended to be screwed respectively to the nose and body of a rocket. When the rocket is in flight the gases developed act on a disc 24 to arch it forwardly, the disc by means of a pin 21 and plunger 20 serving to move forwards a cylindrical member 4. The member 4, as shown bears against a flange 11 of a cylinder 11αwhose forward end bears against the end wall of a housing 8, and the forward movement of the member 4 causes the flange to rupture at its thin annular part near the cylinder. The. rear end of the cylinder 11a, during this movement, breaks a partition wall of the member 4 and allows electrolyte 7 to pass around storage battery plates 9, and at the same time contact plates 13, 15 on the flange 11 meet fixed contacts 16, 17 on the housing 8 and complete the circuit from the battery to an ignition device for the explosive charge. |
