PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a backlight unit capable of canceling deflection of a lamp in the backlight unit and restraining brightness unevenness as a backlight unit and preventing damage on the lamp.SOLUTION: The backlight unit includes a case 3 having an opening for taking out light, the lamp 2 stored in the case 3, and a connection member 102 for connecting the lamp 2 to a lighting-up circuit. A lamp holding member 101 is arranged in the vicinity of an area point between both ends of the lamp 2 inside the case 3.
