PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide systems for measuring shear force that are relatively inexpensive and that can be used either in a professional context or as a typical golfer.SOLUTION: A golf ball 900 includes an inner layer 902, an outer layer 904, and a cavity 906 therebetween. A fluid, such as a viscous damping fluid, is stored in the cavity 906. When the ball 900 is struck, the inner layer 902 and the outer layer 904 rotate independently of one another. Indicia 910 and 914 are provided on the inner layer 902 and the outer layer 904. An examination of the relative position of the indicia 910, 914 before the ball 900 is struck and after the ball 900 is struck can yield data that indicate the shear force of the stroke. |
