PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-frequency power amplifier having high efficiency and a wide dynamic range, and also to provide an amplification method.SOLUTION: A high-frequency signal to be amplified is branched by a hybrid H1, one output is inputted to a main amplifier 1 performing a switching operation, and the other output is inputted to a sub-amplifier 2 performing a class-C operation adjusted to start operation from an output saturation start point of the main amplifier 1. A part of an output from the sub-amplifier 2 is inputted to the main amplifier 1 via a divider c2 and a hybrid H2, and an output of the main amplifier 1 and the output of the sub amplifier 2 are synthesized by a coupler c1 to be outputted. |
