The method involves vibrating a liquid medium (4) in a container (3) by providing mechanical vibrations using oscillation units (11,21). The electrical reception signals indicating vibration of the liquid medium are produced and the signals are compared to determine whether gas bubbles (5) are present in the liquid medium. The size of gas bubbles in the liquid medium is determined, if gas bubbles are present in the liquid medium. An independent claim is included for system for detecting gas bubble in liquid medium.
