The present invention relates to a method for preparing an aqueous anti-microbial solution containing chlorhexidine digluonate and tartaric acid for use with an odontological or orthodontic glass ionomer cement, and to an aqueous anti-microbial solution substantially improved by the addition of up to 18% chlorhexidine digluconate and up to 11% tartaric acid.
