PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wavelength conversion system and a wavelength conversion method for drastically reducing the number of wavelength converters by eliminating rate-controlling of wavelength conversion.SOLUTION: The wavelength conversion system has the wavelength converter which mixes input wavelength light by using primary pump light by means of a first non-linear optical fiber, thereby, converts the input wavelength light into intermediate wavelength light, performs wave filter of only the intermediate wavelength light by means of a fixed wavelength filter, thereafter, mixes the intermediate wavelength light by using secondary pump light by means of a second non-linear optical fiber and, thereby, converts the intermediate wavelength light into output wavelength light, wherein the secondary pump light wavelength is arranged on a grid based on ITU-T; the secondary pump light and the output wavelength light are separated from each other and, thereby, the output wavelength light is obtained by performing the wave filter. |
