PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photoelectric conversion element having high conversion efficiency and excellent durability; and to provide a photo-electrochemical cell.SOLUTION: The photoelectric conversion element comprises a layered structure containing a photosensitive body having a semiconductor fine particle layer in which dye is adsorbed on a conducting substrate, a charge transfer body, and a counter electrode. The dye has the structure represented by formula (1), and the charge transfer body has an electrolyte composition containing a heterocyclic quaternary compound. In the formula (1), D represents a dye residue; n is an integer of at least 1; Acc represents a group having a heterocyclic acidic nucleus or a methine group substituted with an electron attractive group. Acc has at least two acidic groups directly or through a coupling group. |
