PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a motor drive system and a control method thereof for restarting a motor reliably with a simpler structure than before, while preventing a failure during reconnection between an inverter and a motor.SOLUTION: The motor drive system 1 includes an inverter 2, a first switch 3, and a control section 4. The inverter 2 drives the motor. The first switch 3 is connected between the output side of the inverter 2 and the motor. The control section 4 controls the inverter 2 and the first switch 3. The control section 4 shuts off the output of the inverter 2 by the first switch 3 when a failure occurs in a commercial power supply or the motor drive system 1. The control section 4 stops the inverter 2. The control section 4 turns on the first switch 3. The control section 4 starts operation of the inverter 2 after the lapse of a predetermined operation start delay time. |
