The invention relates to a method and to a device for varying the speed at which multiple objects (Ps-1, Ps-2,...) are transported, in particular the speed at which the multiple flat postal items are transported to a processing unit. During the transport, a plurality of images are consecutively generated of a section of the conveying unit (F-1, F-2), more specifically in the same image acquisition direction (B). Each image comprises multiple image components. For each image, it is determined which image components of the image show transported objects (Ps-1, Ps-2,...) and which image components show no objects. It is determined which image components of which images show the same transported object. At least one value of a feature is determined for each transported object (Ps-1, Ps-2,...). Depending on the measured features, the transport speed of the conveying unit (F-1, F-2) is varied. |
