PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a washing and drying machine which improves drying performance and reduces power consumption and a drying machine.SOLUTION: The washing and drying machine has an outer tank 20 turning the interior into a drying chamber during a drying operation, a rotary drum 29 storing laundry 30, a motor 36 driving the rotary drum 29, a drying device 6 having an air duct 11 to blow warm air to the rotary drum 29, a heater 62 and a blower 61 and a water draining device 8 to drain water discharged from the outer tank 20 and circulates air to the blower 61, the heater 62, the air duct 11, the outer tank 20, and the blower 61 in that order during the drying operation. The machine has an outlet area variable device to make the outlet area of the air duct 11 venting air discharged from the rotary drum 29 and dashing warm air over the laundry 30 after the air is vented larger than the outlet area of the air duct 11 before the air is vented, and an air velocity variable device to make the outlet air velocity of the air duct 11 after the air is vented smaller than the outlet air velocity of the air duct 11 before the air is vented during the drying operation. |
