An inflatable ball comprising first and second halves connected together wherein each half has ribs 121 and 123 on either an inner or outer wall and one of the halves has a hole and valve unit 30 positioned in the hole. The ball may be made of a thermoplastic polyurethane, elastomer, olefin or rubber or ethylene-vinyl acetate. The ribs 121 and 123 may form a network with a plurality of arc shaped ribs intersecting a plurality or annular ribs. Annular flanges 114 with cooperating projections 14 and grooves 15 may be formed on each of the outer walls where the two halves connect. The ribs 121 and 123 may form polygons which can be filled with leather inserts. The two halves may have complimentary wavy or zigzag edges. The cells may have knurled or texted surface.
