Two frames 10 of a racket press are joined together by corner studs 11 having upper parts bent to form loops 11a which are higher nearer the centre of the press than on the outside and four inter connected operating levers 14 have ends 14a bent at right-angles and lying within the loops 11a so that when the levers are raised the ends 14a lie in the higher parts thereof and when the levers are depressed, the ends 14a are forced into the lower parts so as to force the frames 10 together against springs 12. The effective length of the studs 11 can be adjusted by nuts 20 countersunk in the lower frame. The levers 14 are formed from stout wire in pairs joined by a handle 19. In closing the press, the lever assembly is moved slightly past. a dead-centre position so as to be self-retaining.</p> |
