A power tool powered by a battery having a plurality of battery cells, comprising: means for measuring voltage of the battery while current is being drawn from the battery; means for interrupting current momentarily to measure voltage of the battery in an unloaded condition; means for measuring voltage of the battery in an unloaded condition; means for comparing the unloaded voltage measure to a voltage cutoff threshold; and means for resuming current draw from the battery when the unloaded voltage measure exceeds the voltage cutoff threshold. A method is also provided for operating the power tool. |
