A text presentation method for adapting a single source text to multiple documents having different degrees of complexity comprises the steps of storing in memory a plurality of acronyms and a corresponding phrase for each acronym, coding an input text with tags identifying text strings to appear in one of the output documents specified, receiving an instruction from a user, reading the input text, finding tags and deleting strings, finding tags and substituting strings, and presenting the output text. The tagged text strings may be encapsulated in a pair of HTML/XML tags, encapsulated in a pair of special-character strings, or indicated by text colour, font or style. This invention relates to computing, and the principal use of the invention is for text presentation.
